PowerBuilder ®

PowerBuilder is a powerful client/server programming environment from Sybase, Inc. It can be used with a variety of databases (e.g., Oracle, SQLServer) and implemented on a variety of platforms (e.g., Windows, UNIX).

PSI has been developing PowerBuilder applications since 1992.

New Version of PowerBuilder (and related products)
Recently, Sybase released Version 7.0 of PowerBuilder. The application interface has been improved and the Enterprise Application Server introduces a new level of integration for web applications and e-commerce solutions.

Information from their "Build the Future" seminar is available online at http://www.sybase.com/products/eastudio/seminar_info.html.

Using the PFC
Those familiar with PowerBuilder will be aware of the PowerBuilder Foundation Class (PFC) that was introduced with version 5 of PowerBuilder. Objects that "inherit" from the PFC can take advantage of built-in functionality. Most of the PowerBuilder applications that PSI has developed in the last couple of years have taken advantage of this capability.

Integrated Web Applications
PowerBuilder can also be used to develop web-based applications which get information from (or feed information to) a database.

Partnering with Sybase
PSI is a part of the Sybase Partners program.

PowerBuilder User Group
PSI's own Amine Khechfe is President of the San Francisco PowerBuilder user group, more familiarly known as the SF PBUG. For more information about the user group, contact Amine at A@psi-systems.com.
